Q.2.2.2.) Please allow me to introduce myself.

Who am I?

Hello world!

My name is Gregory Kiley and welcome to my blog. This blog en devours to highlight the urgent need for better education amongst all South African's on the topic of Digital Law and Ethics.

A bit about myself. Currently I am a full-time student at Varsity College Sandton Campus. I am studying a Bachelors of Computer and Information Sciences through Application Development or BCAD for short. Through this course I have gleaned a deeper knowledge and understanding about how we as South African's are oblivious to the true danger and consequences that leading a digital life entails.
The modules I am doing this semester are:
  • Digital Law and Ethics .
  • Programming 1B (JAVA).
  • Mathmatical Principles fr Developers.
  • Database Intermediate.
Thus far I am enjoying my studies and have gleaned some useful knowledge from this semester at college.

Last year I finished my first tertiary qualification from Varsity College Sandton, this was a Higher Certificate in IT Support Services or HCITSS for short. Through that course my love for all things technology was cemented at a varsity level. I enjoy delving into the inner workings of computers and those who use and abuse these miracles of technology.

My hobbies include but are not limited to:
  • Dungeons and Dragons.
  • Magic the Gathering.
  • Video-games.
  • Computers.
  • Reading.
  • Medieval fighting.
Through my various interactions compared to my knowledge on the internet I have arrived at the controversial conclusion that social media is the slow death of humanity. Social Media has created some of the biggest problems now facing us as a species. Although one cannot discount the huge benefits that it has given us, social media when taken in at face value is the glorification of mediocrity and idiocy. Social media has provided a window into each of our lives regardless of weather we want to be included or not. Social media has also allowed the likes of "Kim Kardashian" and both "Jake Paul" and "Logan Paul" to become famous and have actual influence in the lives of the average person. Social media has glorified these idiots and reinforced the idea that mimicking them will some how allow the youth of today to attain the perverted godhood that they masquerade in. Social media despite all of its usefulness has warped our perspective on what matters, we are addicts and our drug of choice is absolutely free.
This is in essence the greatest scale of surveillance ever achieved by humanity. Now everyone from a stranger on the street to our own government can watch exactly what we are doing at all times, the worst part is we love it.
